Aryna Sabalenka Wins Australian Open Again, Autographs Trainer's Head for Good Luck
Defending Champion Retains Title in Melbourne
Sabalenka's Hilarious Good Luck Ritual Continues
Aryna Sabalenka has done it again! The Belarusian tennis star has won the Australian Open for the second time, defeating Zheng Qinwen in the final. Sabalenka's victory marks her first Grand Slam title since last year's Australian Open and solidifies her status as one of the top players in the world.
But what makes Sabalenka's victory even more memorable is her hilarious good luck ritual. After winning her first Australian Open title in 2023, Sabalenka autographed the head of her fitness coach, Jason Stacy. This year, she repeated the ritual, much to Stacy's amusement.
Sabalenka's coach, Anton Dubrov, revealed that the autographing ritual began as a joke. "We were just having fun," Dubrov said. "But it seems to be working, so we're going to keep doing it." And indeed, Sabalenka's success on the court suggests that her good luck ritual is working its magic.
Stacy, who has been working with Sabalenka since 2023, is more than happy to sign his head for his star player. "It's a small thing, but it makes her happy," Stacy said. "And if it helps her win more Grand Slams, then I'm all for it."
