Dallas Mavericks Keep Luka and Run it Back
The Mavericks made the Western Conference Finals, and they’re running it back in 2023-24 with essentially the unchanged roster.
The one notable addition for Dallas is JaVale McGee, a veteran forward who is a great rebounder and shot-blocker. The rest of the roster is the same group that overachieved in 2022-23, led by Luka Dončić, Spencer Dinwiddie, and Christian Wood.
The Mavericks have a lot of talent, but they also have some weaknesses. They could use another wing defender and a more consistent three-point shooter. But they have a lot of potential, and they should be a playoff contender again in 2023-24.
The Mavericks have a lot of experience on their roster. Dončić is already one of the best players in the NBA, and he’s only going to get better. Dinwiddie is a quality starting point guard, and Wood is a great scorer and rebounder.
The Mavericks also have a lot of depth. They have Tim Hardaway Jr., Reggie Bullock, and Dorian Finney-Smith, who can all provide scoring and defense. They also have Dwight Powell, who is a good backup center.
The Mavericks have a lot of potential, but they also have some weaknesses. They need to improve their three-point shooting, and they need to get more consistent on the defensive end.
But if they can do those things, they have a chance to be a real contender in the Western Conference in 2023-24.
