Preparations Underway as State Braces for Unprecedented Event

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (June 26, 2023) - Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has declared a state of emergency in response to the impending total solar eclipse scheduled to occur on Monday, June 25, 2023. The declaration will allow the state to access additional resources and mobilize personnel to ensure public safety and facilitate an effective response.

In a press release issued Friday, Governor Sanders announced the release of $100,000 from the Governor's Disaster Relief Fund to assist with the state's response to the eclipse. The funds will be used to cover expenses related to safety measures, emergency management, and coordination of resources.

"This state of emergency declaration will allow us to take the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of all Arkansans and visitors who will be experiencing this historic event," said Governor Sanders in the release. "We are working closely with local officials and emergency responders to prepare for any potential challenges."
