Federal Officials Allege Pino Hired Two Crews to Kill Estranged Wife

Pino, a prominent builder and political donor, was found dead in his home on Tuesday

Federal officials contend that Sergio Pino, a prominent Miami-Dade homebuilder, had hired two separate crews to kill his estranged wife. Pino, 67, was found dead in an upstairs bedroom by an FBI SWAT team that swarmed the developer's swanky multimillion-dollar home in a gated Coral Gables community on Tuesday.

Pino had denied allegations that he hired men to threaten his wife, Tatiana Pino. The FBI and Coral Gables police had been investigating him in connection with those threats.

FBI officials were set to provide more details in a news conference Wednesday. Pino was the founder of Century Homebuilders Group and had been a high-profile Miami-Dade County builder and political donor for decades.
