Spurs Snatch Victory Over Coventry In Last Minute Drama

Spurs Snatch Victory Over Coventry in Last Minute Drama

A late goal from Harry Kane secured a dramatic victory for Tottenham Hotspur against Coventry City in the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday.

Trailing 1-0 with just minutes remaining, Kane popped up to head home a cross from Heung-min Son and send the Tottenham fans into raptures.

The goal was Kane's 26th of the season and his fourth in the FA Cup, making him the competition's leading scorer this season.

The victory was Tottenham's first in the FA Cup since 2017 and sets up a quarter-final tie against Sheffield United.

Coventry took the lead in the 12th minute when Viktor Gyokeres slotted home from close range after a mistake from Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

Tottenham dominated possession for much of the game but struggled to create clear-cut chances.

However, they were given a lifeline when Coventry defender Jake Bidwell was sent off for a second yellow card in the 75th minute.

Tottenham took advantage of their numerical superiority and poured forward in search of an equalizer.

Their pressure eventually paid off in the 89th minute when Kane headed home Son's cross.

The goal sparked wild celebrations among the Tottenham fans, who had been fearing the worst.

Tottenham manager Antonio Conte said he was delighted with the victory and praised his team's character.

"We showed great character and determination to come back from behind and win the game," Conte said.

"We knew it would be a tough game, but we never gave up and we got our reward in the end."

Coventry manager Mark Robins was disappointed with the defeat but praised his team's performance.

"I'm disappointed with the result, but I'm proud of the performance of my players," Robins said.

"We gave Tottenham a real scare and we were unlucky not to get something out of the game."

The victory was a welcome boost for Tottenham, who have been struggling for form in the Premier League in recent weeks.

They will now be hoping to use the FA Cup as a springboard to improve their league form.

Tottenham will face Sheffield United in the FA Cup quarter-finals on March 19.

Sheffield United are currently second in the Championship and will be a tough test for Tottenham.

However, Tottenham will be confident of victory if they can produce a similar performance to the one they showed against Coventry.
