Sunrise Sports: Ikenaga earns Big West POW, Waianae boxer wins debut

Hawaii’s Ikenaga earns another Big West Player of the Week honor

University of Hawaii middle blocker Amber Ikenaga has been named the Big West Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Ikenaga, a senior from Mililani, helped the Rainbow Wahine go 2-0 last week with a pair of sweeps over UC Riverside and CSUN.

She averaged 1.71 blocks per set and had a hitting percentage of .391. She also added 17 kills and four digs.

Waianae native makes successful pro boxing debut

Waianae native Keanu Kahinu earned a unanimous decision victory in his professional boxing debut on Saturday night.

Kahinu, who is now 1-0 as a pro, defeated Edgar Armendariz by scores of 40-36, 40-36, and 40-35.

The 24-year-old Kahinu is a former amateur standout who won the National Golden Gloves in 2019.
